Completion, Summer of 2019
Atlantic Coast Communications performed all inter and intrabuilding connectivity for The New Library on Temple University’s Philadelphia Campus. The site contains a robotic Automated Storage and Retrieval System, also known as Book Bot. This cavernous space, 55’high x 120 long x 75’ wide within the library has the capacity to house over 2 million books and publications and retrieval is via a robotic system that accesses 35,388 bins. The storage vault and robotic retrieval systems are visible from the second floor viewing area and controlled by the communications infrastructure our team was tasked with installing.
Our work included Distribution to the building from the campus backbone system and throughout the interior distribution plant including Single Mode and OM-4 connectivity, the construction of an MDF or MTR (Main Telephone Room) and Four IDFs or TRs (Telecom Rooms) to support 1300 stations of category 6 cable throughout. The work was coordinated with the University’s chosen GC, The Daniel J. Keating Company. All work was completed according to schedule. The Charles Library by Norwegian design firm Snøhetta has become a destination for the campus population and architectural enthusiast.

Completion – Spring 2021
Atlantic Coast Communication completed the wiring of the latest addition to The University of Pennsylvania’s Student Residences, currently known as New College House West (NCHW). The building totals more than 250,000 square feet and houses 430 students with a mix of 2-to-6-bedroom units over 12 levels and is targeted for Leed Silver. The building includes 2 five story towers at the east and west end of the property connected by a 12-story tower in the center fronting on Walnut Street below 40th. The first two levels include common area dining, study and lounge areas and the undergraduate residences are on all levels 3 and above.
Our work, performed direct for the University and in coordination with the University’s elected GC, Intech Construction, included new campus optical trunk installations to support diverse feed capabilities to the west side of the campus including new diverse feeds to NCHW. The interior feed system included distribution to 12 IDF locations throughout and included single mode optical fiber, multi pair category 3 copper and a ½” coaxial backbone to support traditional CATV until the transition to the planned optical CATV backbone is complete. Category 6 station wiring was installed throughout to support wireless and wired data connectivity, CCTV, voice and Audio-Visual Connectivity requirements throughout. Our work was completed in the Summer of 2021 in time for occupancy for the Autumn semester.
Penn Medicine’s new Pavilion, one of the largest hospital projects being completed in the United States, for opening November 2021 after four and a half years of construction at the site.
The 17-story plus 5 subterranean levels x 650-foot-long new bronze-beacon in Philadelphia, at one and a half million square feet is a behemoth. The site includes 504 private patient rooms and 47 operating rooms.
Atlantic Coast built over 50 communications rooms to support all connectivity for the massive network supporting voice, data, distributed interior cellular equipment, audio visual systems for medical learning, patient communication, information, and entertainment systems. The work included more than 4000 feet of ladder runway within the secure distribution rooms, (430) cabinets and 1-ton capacity equipment racks, along with all grounding and bonding of all distribution room related infrastructure components throughout the hospital.
Atlantic Coast also furnished and installed a Corning Solution for all optical back bones along with a copper backbone cables. The cables facilitated the interconnection of the Telecommunication Distribution Rooms (TDRs) to two distinct Telecommunication Equipment Systems Rooms (TSERs), on the west end on the lower levels and on the east end at the upper levels. All TDRs accommodated the interconnection to other TDRs on each level to allow for diverse feeds to all rooms from two distinct and physically distant sources.
The installed backbone (over 10,000 strands of single mode optical fiber and 3200 pairs of category 3 copper) supports over 30,000 category 6A shielded station cables installed throughout the site as part of another contract that we did not perform. All fiber terminations, were performed utilizing Corning Splice On UPC and APC connectors.
Atlantic Coast’s on-site teams also provided planning, site logistics and installation of (504) patient room entertainment and medical information systems to include 75” Displays, all supporting electronics and HDMI connectivity for these Display. The 75-inch screen and smart board will help patients engage in their care and will allow patients to save, show, and send information to family and care providers. The patients also have controls at their fingertips for lighting, shades, temperature, and more, so they can personalize the room to their comfort level.
Additionally, we installed over 140 Caregility enhance patient monitoring systems that allow remote visual and audio communication between the patient and their care team for monitoring higher risk patients. We were among the first contractors on the site to complete our base bid requirements allowing the data systems to be live over 6 months in advance of the hospitals opening.
Multiple sites in Greater Philadelphia Area
Atlantic Coast communications provides voice, data, wireless, security and optical riser cabling across multiple Century sites. Century Therapeutics is an industry leader in iPSC-derived NK and T cell therapies. Atlantic Coast provides owner specific installation services for each of the unique Century sites. Atlantic Coast assists with System Room layout, Wireless Surveys and deployments, inter and intrabuilding commercial pathway and raceway planning, iner and intra building optical and multipair risers and overall constructability services. Atlantic Coast works in tandem with the design and planning teams to assist with integration of the core Lab environments, office environments and overall IP usefulness of each space. Atlantic Coast provides front end constructability services for each Century site we install. Pre-construction planning revolves around team calls and meetings that review each IP point that will be deployed at the site, how it will connect to the network and clean room/lab space planning for required IP interconnections required at each technical lab space that provides clinical research for the firm.
Our installation teams have installed over 300,000’ of premium Category 6 twisted pair cable, 5,000’ of Single Mode optical fiber and has built/fit out major server and systems rooms at each site we have performed work at.
Discovery Labs, King of Prussia, Pa
Schedule completion December, 2021
The Discovery Labs at King of Prussia is a converted Pharmaceutical Corporate Campus that now acts as a beacon for local business, Universities and Corporations seeking a pre-build Research and Development facility offering leased space from a few offices to entire buildings dedicated for a single entity.

Atlantic Coast Communications has installed several miles of optical fiber at the Grounds for Sculpture to support an array of Technology enhancements at the museum. Atlantic Coast most recently provided design and installation support for the new Night Forms Exhibition. ACC worked with KLIP Collective, Thrasos Media and Oliver Communications Group to vision a new museum wide optical fiber ring that provided new optical connectivity and power availability to the heart of the museum park.
The project includes over 2 miles of directional bore conduits from a centralized headend location in the Motor Exhibit Building to 6 internal substation locations in the internal campus exhibit area. In tandem with the direction bores, over 2 miles of 48 strand single mode optical cable was installed to support the extended technology into the park. Each substation provided signal paths to either a theater production pole mounted projector display (13 of these total) or a mini station (18 of these total) which extends light and sound systems to support the video image being displayed at each unique art display on the campus.
The Night Forms project will officially kickoff its inaugural show on November 19th, 2021.
