Completed – Spring 2021
Atlantic Coast Communication completed the wiring of the latest addition to The University of Pennsylvania’s Student Residences, currently known as New College House West (NCHW). The building totals more than 250,000 square feet and houses 430 students with a mix of 2-to-6-bedroom units over 12 levels and is targeted for Leed Silver. The building includes two 5-story towers at the east and west end of the property connected by a 12-story tower in the center fronting on Walnut Street below 40th. The first two levels include common area dining, study, and lounge areas, while the undergraduate residences are on level three and above.
Our work, performed directly for the University and in coordination with the University’s elected GC, Intech Construction, included new campus optical trunk installations to support diverse feed capabilities to the west side of the campus, with new diverse feeds to NCHW. The interior feed system included distribution to 12 IDF locations throughout and included single mode optical fiber, multi pair category 3 copper, and a ½” coaxial backbone to support traditional CATV until the transition to the planned optical CATV backbone is complete. Category 6 station wiring was installed throughout to support wireless and wired data connectivity, CCTV, voice, and audio-visual connectivity requirements throughout. Our work was completed in the Summer of 2021 in time for occupancy for the Autumn semester.
